This information is to inform you of the personal protective equipment that you will be required to supply on your first class for any welding program that you have selected to enrol in.
This equipment needs to be in A1 working order due to WHS requirements:
* Welding Helmet preferably auto darkening 9-13 shade, if you choose a flip front it is suggested that you purchase a No 10 shade lens as well. If you buy a solar auto darkening welding helmet you need to activate the solar cells before you bring the helmet to class. To do this simply expose the helmet to direct sunlight for about an hour.
* Welding gauntlets - Gloves, if you are TIG welding there are pig skin type gloves which are much easier to wear when TIG welding
* Clear safety glasses (AS rated)
* A pair of MIG or combination pliers
* Hearing protection for when you are grinding
* Overalls or cotton drill type clothing must be long sleeve and long pants, NO POLYESTER CLOTHING ALLOWED AS THIS MATERIAL IS HIGHLY FLAMMABLE
* Leather type shoes - work boots, but no runners
* Any student that has incorrect personal protective equipment will not be able to participate in any practical classes. This is to protect both you and our teachers from any injuries

This equipment can be purchased as a pack in a carry bag from SEARS Work Wear 60 Barrier Street Fyshwick ph:62804111
