This weekend course will explores the fascintating and accesible world of kilnforming. Starting with the basics of kilnforming you'll progress through to more advanced processes in the kiln as well as cold working to create textures, pattern and relief carving on glass surfaces.

Please wear and bring the following:
* Comfortable cotton or natural fibre clothing - NO FLAMMABLE OR SYNTHETIC CLOTHING
* Wear long pants and wear or bring both a long sleeve and short sleeve cotton shirt to class (It can get hot/cold and a change of clothing may be needed)
* Covered shoes (e.g. leather shoes, boots or runners. Make sure none of your foot is exposed)
* A bottle of water
* If you have long hair wear it tied back
* If you need reading glasses bring them as well
* Your class will run over lunch time so bring something to eat and a snack


IMPORTANT: Your teacher will arrange a time for you to come and pick up your work. This will be at least a week after your class. If you need your work to be posted to you, there will be an additional fee for postage. Let your teacher know if this is required.

About your tutor - Kirstie Rea
Having established her studio in 1987, following her graduation from the Glass program at the Canberra School of Art, Kirstie Rea has over the past 27 years continued to develop her practice to become internationally recognised and respected for her works in glass.

She has exhibited widely locally and internationally and her work is now included in international collections such as the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the National Gallery of Australia and the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung Foundation in Munich Germany.

She has taught in her field of kiln formed glass and cold working techniques across the world since 1987. These teaching venues include Pilchuck Glass School USA, the Corning Studio, USA, Pittsburgh Glass Centre, USA, North Lands Creative Glass in Scotland and Vetroricerca School in Bolzano Italy.
